ABOUT - ANTHONY VEILLEUX
(London, ON) Born in the late sixties into an Air Force family in Quebec, Canada as the last of six kids to an amazing pair of supportive and creative parents. Anthony found his creativity early on drawing on used computer punch cards his Mom brought home from work, making plasticine dinosaurs, aliens with tin foil armatures for stop-motion epics with the family super eight camera, monster mask sculptures on styrofoam wig forms, and fake bloody aftermaths of destruction with flesh coloured plasticine and morticians wax with syrup blood on the neighbourhood kids.
His artistic pursuits found focus while attending Beal Art in London, Ontario. Shortly after art school he landed an apprenticeship at Blue Dragon Tattoo here in London, which allowed him to make a comfortable living designing and applying“walking art” on many wonderful clients. Anthony is the current owner of 227 Tattoo. This has allowed him more freelancing opportunities in special effects make-up artist and sculptor. Some of Anthony’s proudest film contributions have been: John Fawcett’s Ginger Snaps, George Romero's Land of the Dead, Zach Snyder's 300, a few of the Resident Evil films, Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim and Ari Aster’s recent film Beau Is Afraid.
Anthony has never stopped honing his skills and showing in galleries with so many talented creative people helps fuel his creative ideas. His recent sculptures are an exploration of the beauty of the human and not so human form with a darker narrative, always enjoying both the final outcome and the journey to get there.
